OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into more than just a chatbot—it’s becoming a platform for interactive apps. The company announced a major update that lets you use real apps directly inside ChatGPT, all through natural conversation.

Here’s the idea: you can now tell ChatGPT things like “Spotify, make me a playlist for my party” or “Show me homes on Zillow under $700,000,” and it will actually open those apps right in the chat window — no new tabs, no switching screens.

OpenAI says this new feature works with an Apps SDK that lets developers build their own tools for ChatGPT.
