ALBANY — Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed pharmacists in New York state to continue giving COVID-19 vaccine shots, CBS News in the Capital Region announced on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Hochul signed an extended executive order on Oct. 3, to ensure that all New Yorkers can receive the updated 2025–26 COVID shot. The order will be in place for at least another 30 days.
The governor is also urging the federal government to grant COVID-19 immunization availability through the Vaccines for Children program, which, as of Oct. 6, the Trump administration has not yet done. Acting from caution, Governor Hochul has directed the Department of Health to explore additional solutions to make sure all children, including uninsured kids, have access to vaccines.
