ALBANY, New York (WWNY) - Ensuring all New Yorkers can receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine. That’s the goal for Governor Kathy Hochul as she signed an extension of Executive Order 52 over the weekend.

Signed on September 5, the order allows pharmacists to continue to administer COVID vaccines, providing access for all New Yorkers who wish to be vaccinated.

The order was set to expire on October 5, but Governor Hochul has extended the order through November 2.

Hochul is also calling on the federal government to make the COVID-19 vaccine available through the Vaccines for Children program.

“I will sign as many extensions of this executive order as I need to. We will always let science lead the way, not politics,” said Hochul.
