GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Waccamaw High School English teacher says a Myrtle Beach blogger falsely linked a 15-month-old social media reaction to the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's assassination.

David Hucks, who has operated MyrtleBeachSC.com since 2004, posted a series of articles in mid-September that he said were made by Marie Lawson "following news of Kirk's assassination was placed on social media," according to a libel and defamation lawsuit she filed in Georgetown County.

One of the posts -- made on Facebook post by one of Lawson's friends -- said "Gods Don't Kill People, People With Gods Kill People." Lawson shared it on June 9, 2024, and it was highlighted by Hucks on Sept. 16.
