CHARLESTON (WV News) — West Virginia Attorney General JB McCuskey has joined the chorus of West Virginia officials applauding the Trump administration for its recent moves to support the coal industry.

The administration announced last week it would open more than 13 million acres of federal land for coal leasing and planned to invest more than $600 million to "expand and reinvigorate" coal-fired power plants.

In a letter to Energy Secretary Christopher A. Wright, McCuskey called the move “a key commitment to energy security and economic revitalization” and highlighted the importance of the 14,000 coal miners in West Virginia who have powered the nation for generations.
