SUTTON, W.Va. (WV News) — A Huntington man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Interstate 79, according to the West Virginia State Police.

Chad E. Carpenter, 50, was pronounced deceased at Braxton Memorial Hospital a short time after the crash, which occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday on I-79 southbound at the 72-mile marker.

A trooper from the Sutton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to the reported crash. Upon investigation, it was determined that Carpenter’s motorcycle had traveled off the western edge of the roadway, lost control and struck a guardrail. Carpenter was the lone occupant of the motorcycle.
