Economic concerns loom as federal shutdown enters sixth day

Republicans and Democrats have shown few signs of meaningful negotiations to break an impasse on reopening the government as the shutdown drags into its sixth day .

While the U.S. economy has grown this year, slowed hiring and inflation continue to cause concern as President Donald Trump threatens mass layoffs for federal workers — a tactic never used before by a president.

Joseph Foudy, an economics professor at NYU's Stern School of Business, joined "The Rush Hour" on Monday to talk more about the shutdown's economic impacts.
