Various local police services want to have more eyes on crime starting in downtown North Bay and need the public’s help to do that.

On Monday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northeast Region and North Bay Police Service (NBPS), with the support of Special Constables and Auxiliary Officers hosted the official launch of CAMSafe Week, a community safety initiative designed to keep our neighbourhoods safe and connected.

The event was held on Main Street in front of the new police hub.

CAMSafe is a CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) and security video registry aimed at keeping the community safe and assisting police solve crime. It started in the United States and came to some cities in Canada in 2020.

Creators have described it as ‘Neighbourhood Watch 2.0.’
