OWENSBORO, Ky. — A team of 10 women from Owensboro etched their names into the annals, setting a world record by flipping a 320-pound tractor tire one mile in 32 minutes and 54 seconds.

The all-female squad, coached by Bob O'Brien, completed 16 grueling laps around the Daviess County High School track — each roughly the length of a football field — to claim the mark in the Alternative World Records registry, based in Germany.

The feat, verified through video submissions from two angles, marks the first time an all-women's team has accomplished the tire-flipping marathon.

"It's not really a sport; it's just, you train for a world record, which is very hard to do," said O'Brien, a 29-year coaching veteran who previously guided a men's team to the same record. "Set your goals and go after
