BELLEVUE, Ill. (WMBD) -- A man died while cutting down trees on a property in Bellevue around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of North Hilltop Road and West Crabtree Court, where a tree landed on a 58-year-old man, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said.

Watkins said two men were cutting down trees, and the 58-year-old was pulling branches from the first tree. The other man was cutting a second tree and did not see the man when he started cutting, which then landed on the 58-year-old.

Detectives and the Peoria County Coroner's Office were called to the scene.
