NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Opioid recovery resources could soon expand in North Augusta as city leaders weigh funding for a new peer support specialist dedicated to helping residents battling substance use.

At Monday night’s city council meeting, members are considering approval of funding that would hire a city-focused peer support specialist beginning in 2026.

The position would be paid for through the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund, which is providing resources statewide to expand care and address the ongoing opioid crisis.
