KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Kershaw County is in the process of rewriting the county’s zoning and land development regulations — the first time these rules have been updated in 20 years.

The Kershaw County Smart Growth Rewrite Committee is leading the effort, which is aimed at managing and preparing for ongoing population growth. The changes are part of the county’s new comprehensive plan, which will receive its final vote on Oct. 14.

Councilman Derek Shoemake expects the plan to pass. and once it does, it will guide the rewrite committee’s work.

The committee is made up of members who represent different parts of the county.
