SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Domestic violence is a constant battle that countless men, women and children face every day.

The Barren River Area Safe Space, known as BRASS, received more than 2,800 reports of domestic violence just last year. To raise awareness and honor survivors, BRASS is hosting several events during the month of October.

One of those events is a Domestic Violence Awareness gathering in Franklin.

Tori Henninger, executive director of BRASS, says the most dangerous time for a survivor is when they choose to leave an abusive relationship.

“The most tumultuous time for a survivor is the moment that they decide to leave. That is often when homicide-suicides occur,” she explained.
