A 30-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to 18-months in federal prison for posting threats online about shooting up a Lubbock elementary school.

Stephen Patrick Furr, appeared with his attorney Dan Hurley, before U.S. District Judge James Hendrix for a sentencing hearing that was set after Furr pleaded guilty in May to a count of making interstate threatening communications.

Furr, who has been in custody since his Feb. 3 arrest, faced up to five years in prison.

His punishment stems from an FBI investigation into his posts on the microblogging site BlueSky about shooting up an elementary school.

The posts, which a tipster sent to the FBI's Dallas office, stated: “Thinking about going out and buying a gun" and "When in Texas, shoot [expletive] [expletive] am I right? Good thing I live
