A Texas Tech alumnus who is also a Division 1 NCAA referee is now the new president and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, according to a chamber news release issued Monday.

The Chamber's Board of Directors named Nick Atwood as the new president and CEO, starting on Monday, Oct. 6. Atwood's appointment comes after the departure of Kay McDowell , who had held the position since 2021.

“We are excited to welcome Nick as our next CEO,” said Robert Wood, Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors. “He has a deep passion for Lubbock, proven leadership experience, and a strong vision for how the Chamber can continue to serve and grow our business community.”
