EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Fall Festival security looks a little different this year. All across Franklin Street there are mobile barriers part of this year's security detail.
“We have the big concrete blocks that we didn't have last year as well as the yellow modular barricades,” Sergeant Nick Winsett said.
Security is not something the Evansville Police Department takes lightly. Mobile modular barricades were added along the perimeter of the festival grounds to ensure the safety of all festivalgoers.
“Even at high rates of speed, it's designed to have the vehicle launch in the air,” Winsett said. “But it hooks the back axle. So there's no way for that vehicle to get across to the other side.”
