ELY, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A bystander pulled a man from a burning car after a crash that happened near Ely on Friday.
According to the st. Louis County Sheriff’s office, it happened Friday afternoon on Echo Trail just north of Ely.
A car ran off the road, into the ditch, hit some rocks, went airborne, and rolled. The vehicle then went up in flames.
Before the vehicle became engulfed, bystanders who witnessed the crash jumped into action and pulled the driver from the wreckage.
The driver is now identified as 57-year-old Jeremy Swanson of Ely. He was the only person in the vehicle.
Swanson was airlifted to a hospital for a head injury; his current condition is not known at this time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. This is a developing story.
