JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One man has sustained life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the Grand Parks neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO says that the shooting occurred at the 3200 block of W 17th Street at around 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, when the ShotSpotter detection system had alerted officers, followed by a call to 911.

Upon arrival on scene, officers found an adult white male with gunshot wounds inside a car. Jacksonville Fire Rescue had transported him to a nearby hospital, where police say he is in life-threatening condition. Witnesses told JSO detectives that multiple shots were fired, followed by a possible vehicle fleeing the scene.

At this time, JSO believes that this was an isolated incident.
