CHICAGO (WGN) — As immigration enforcement intensifies and fear spreads through immigrant communities across Chicago, West Lawn community organizer Eddie Guillen is stepping up to provide critical support and peace of mind.

Guillen recently launched the Midway Delivery Program, a partnership with Mama’s Meat Kitchen near 79th Street and Homan Avenue in the Ashburn neighborhood.

The initiative is offering free, safe deliveries to residents who are afraid to leave their homes, bringing much-needed relief to families in neighborhoods including Garfield Ridge, West Lawn, West Elsdon, Archer Heights and Ashburn.

Participating neighbors can call Mama’s, order and prepay for their groceries, meals or household essentials, which are then delivered by vetted volunteers.
