A SEARCH is continuing on Tuesday morning for a missing teenage boy who disappeared in a Tamworth river.

Emergency services are scouring the Peel River, near the Paradise Bridge area, on Tuesday, October 7, for a missing 15-year-old.

The search resumed on Tuesday morning after the teenager disappeared in the stretch of the river on Monday night.

Police have been told the 15-year-old boy had entered the water in the river swimming about dusk on Monday night and disappeared.

Police were called about 7.40pm to the river, near the intersection of Scott Road and Peel Street, after reports a swimmer had failed to resurface.

Officers began searching the area, and called in volunteers from the State Emergency Service (SES) to assist, as well as NSW Ambulance paramedics.
