INDIANAPOLIS — Right now, there's a new collaborative effort here in Indy to help address youth gun violence.

Several groups are now partnering with the city and national organizations to really focus on teens and children under the age of 18.

It's called the Youth Violence Reduction Initiative, which launched last month.

"What we're trying to do is take that targeted population that has been identified through different means to say, 'OK, let's wrap our arms around them now and let's see what that looks like from the top down as we work with the families," said Kia Wright, co-founder of VOICES Corp .

Wright's organization, on the city's east side, is working to help mentor youth. They got a $150,000 grant from the National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform to start the initiative.
