RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- The City of Raleigh is exploring options for a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route with different segments connecting parts of North Raleigh to downtown.
"Well, I’m excited about it," said Barbara Harris, who lives near the planned corridor.
"I’m retired and I have a lot of ladies that are in my age bracket, that we would love to go downtown, have dinner downtown, maybe to go if there’s a play going on, just walking around and taking care of the festivity that’s going on, and shoot, take the bus," Harris said.
BRT routes provide riders with more frequent and expedited services along highly-traveled corridors.
"Bus rapid transit is that next-level infrastructure for high-frequency corridors," said Het Patel, assistant transit director for the City of Raleigh.
