The Oklahoma Department of Transportation approved new, lower speed limits for a section of Highway 67 on Monday, less than a month after a high-speed crash killed a 9-year-old Glenpool Student.

Signs lowering the speed limit on HWY 67 from 65 to 45 mph from HWY 75 east to nearly Peoria will go up on Monday afternoon.

Some state lawmakers called for ODOT to make immediate changes to area after a 9-year-old was killed a 9-year-old was killed in a multi-car crash on September 8. Nine days later, the Glenpool city council voted unanimously to make a formal request to ODOT to make the change
