Detroit — On a recent afternoon, longtime customer Mancy Johnson stopped by Shantinique Music & Sportswear and bought a CD with the help of co-owner Josephine Beal. He left the store satisfied, his purchase, "Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly — Anthology," in hand.

“If there's some music that I can't find, I come here,” Johnson said.
