The world’s oldest man, João Marinho Neto, is celebrating his 113th birthday on October 5, marking an extraordinary milestone surrounded by family, friends and loved ones in Brazil.

Born on 5 October 1912, João has lived through two World Wars, the rise of the internet and more than a century of world change. He was officially recognised as the oldest living man by LongeviQuest in November last year after the death of the UK’s John Tinniswood at age 112. At the time, João was 112 years and 52 days old.
