EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A military transport plane carrying Texas National Guard soldiers left Fort Bliss on Monday evening, Oct. 6 and is heading to Illinois at the request of the Trump Administration, according to CNN.

The troops are headed to Illinois following a Trump Administration order of troops to conduct operations in Chicago, a law-enforcement source familiar with the operations told CNN.

As part of the deployment, a Globemaster C-17 transport plane left Fort Bliss and headed to Illinois, CNN reported.

Earlier Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted a photo of Texas guard members carrying riot gear boarding a military transport plane.
