Chennai, Oct 07: In a strategic move to reduce electricity costs and promote renewable energy, the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) has initiated a bid for installing 40 MW of rooftop solar systems on state government buildings.

This project aims to alleviate the financial burden on the state’s power utility by decreasing the overdue electricity bills of various departments. While previously, 1.5 MW of solar capacity was installed in 250 schools, this marks a significant expansion for government buildings.
