The NBL has its sights on league expansion, and the Gold Coast could be their first move.
The league has revealed that the Gold Coast will be the host of the inaugural Ignite Cup Final, a move which strengthens the league’s plans for future expansion.
The final will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 22nd, and with support from the league - who have continued to renew their trademark for the Gold Coast Blaze - it is increasingly likely we will see the club return for the first time since they withdrew in 2012.
“The city has become synonymous with major events and elite basketball, and we’re thrilled to showcase the culmination of this new in-season tournament here,” NBL Chief Operating Officer Vince Crivelli said on Tuesday.
“We’ve had the Blitz here
