Chapmanville golf finished tied for third at the Class AA state tournament in 2024 but is aiming for a Class AAA title this year.

That goal came one step closer to fruition Monday at Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado, where the Tigers – led by three seniors and a freshman – dominated the field on the way to a Class AAA Region 4 championship, shooting 214 as a team to capture an automatic bid to the state tournament at Oglebay Resort’s Jones Course.

One of the seniors, Justus Mann, finished sixth at Oglebay in 2024 but shot 68 to finish 3-under par and was the lowest scorer of the tournament.

Mann and Tigers teammate Gavin Stollings were among a small group of individuals jockeying for the lead on Monday. The top-seeded senior birdied three holes on the back nine to take first place.
