Ruth Jones is back in business with the BBC.

After the record-breaking Gavin & Stacey finale, the BAFTA-winner has set a comedy about middle-aged relationships, co-written and co-starring Steve Speirs ( Stella ).

The untitled series tells the story of an unlikely friendship between two people who meet at a knee trauma clinic: retired teacher Clive, a 60-year-old widower, and environmental officer Shelley-Ann, a 55-year-old going through a bitter divorce.

BBC comedy chief Jon Petrie said: “We were genuinely weak at the knees when this script first landed in our inboxes. It’s a rare thing to read something that feels so instantly special, and we cannot wait to see it come to life.”

The series is a Tidy production for BBC1, BBC Wales, and iPlayer. It was commissioned by Nick Andrew
