Police in Chikwawa have launched a manhunt for two brothers accused of setting their 63-year-old father on fire in a shocking incident that occurred on Monday evening.

According to Deputy Police Publicist Chancy Mfune Zare, the victim, identified as Tobias Genti, had gone to visit his son Richard at his home when an argument broke out. Richard, 30, allegedly accused his father of witchcraft and began assaulting him.

Zare said Richard, together with his younger brother Penda Genti, 25, then dragged their father outside, poured petrol over him, and set him ablaze.

The victim’s wife managed to rescue him, but he sustained severe burns and is currently receiving treatment at Ngabu Rural Hospital.
