National Taco Day is Tuesday, Oct. 7, and many restaurants in Michigan are offering deals and discounts to honor the world's favored Mexican food export.

Taco Bell and many other destinations are offering specials on Oct. 7 to celebrate National Taco Day, an unofficial holiday that in the past hit annually on Oct. 4. National Taco Day now is celebrated on the first Tuesday in October after Taco Bell and N a tional Day Calendar teamed up to fight restaurant chain Taco John's to make the phrase "Taco Tuesday" free for everyone. In 2023, Taco John's agreed to relinquish a trademark to the phrase it had held for four decades rather than spend millions defending it.
