NEW DELHI: In a boost for nation's infrastructure, the cabinet on Tuesday approved four railway projects worth Rs 24,634 in a meeting chaired by Prime minister Narendra Modi . The four projects, spanning 18 districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh, are set to expand the Indian Railways network by approximately 894 km. "In today's cabinet meeting, we have approved four new railway projects. Seven railway corridors carry 41% of total railway traffic. We have undertaken many projects recently to strengthen and further connect these corridors. Now, we have decided to make a minimum of four lanes, and where possible, six lanes in these corridors," said Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in press briefing, post the cabinet meet.
