SILVER SPRING, Md. — A person is in the hospital after they were hit by a driver in Montgomery County Tuesday. The crash investigation may slow some morning commutes.

According to traffic officials, a pedestrian was hit by a driver around 6 a.m. at Columbia Pike (U.S. 29) and Stewart Lane. The incident happened near the Bank of America in White Oak which is not far from White Oak Towers Apartments. All northbound lanes are blocked and traffic is being diverted to Stewart Lane as of 6:30 a.m.

The driver remained on the scene. Police said that the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Police are asking drivers to find alternate routes. As of 6:50 a.m., all lanes are open on Columbia Pik
