Glaswegians have a rare chance to see a supermoon tonight (Tuesday, October 7) as skies clear over the city .

Tonight’s Harvest Moon will be the first supermoon since November 2024. It’s the first of three consecutive supermoons arriving before the end of the year, with the moon to be closer, and therefore larger and brighter, than usual.

And, the event arrives at the perfect time for Glaswegians, with clear skies expected tonight after the woeful conditions brought by Storm Amy last week. The moon will rise at around 6.30pm and will appear to be at its biggest just after 7pm.

Clouds will clear over Glasgow before 6pm, with skies expected to be almost completely clear between 6pm and 10pm.
