Over 13,000 drivers have been fined in less than a year for breaking new speed rules on a busy Midlands A-road.

Motorists have routinely ignored temporary speed restrictions while a major roadworks scheme is taking place.

The speed limit has been slashed to 40mph on a section of the A417 near Gloucester during the works.

Despite signage making the new speed limit clear, thousands have been caught by average speed cameras ignoring it.

Following the flood of fines since last November, a new safety campaign has been launched to urge motorists to slow down.
