LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Two meteor showers are peaking this month.
The Draconid meteor shower started Monday night and will be active until Oct. 10, hitting its peak on the evening of Oct. 8 into the early morning of Oct. 9.
The best viewing time is after nightfall, but the nearby full moon on Oct. 7 will likely dim the meteors. This content is imported from Giphy. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
To maximize your chances of seeing a few shooting stars, you should find a location with as little artificial light as possible and a wide, unobstructed view of the sky.
As the Draconids wind down Thursday, there's still a chance you can see a meteor streak across the sky thanks to the Orionids.
