Tropical Storm Jerry formed east of the Caribbean on Tuesday morning, becoming the 10th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season as it heads toward Leeward Islands.

Located more than 1,000 miles east-southeast of the Leeward Islands as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jerry was producing sustained winds of 45 mph and moving west at 24 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

The storm is forecast to turn away from the U.S. later this week, saving Louisiana and the Gulf Coast from any potential impacts.

The NHC's latest track forecast shows Jerry reaching hurricane strength by Wednesday night as it nears the Leeward Islands, its core passing just north of the islands on Thursday or Friday. But forecasters said they're not certain how close the system will get to land.
