Bhubaneswar: The Uditnagar Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a Special Protection Group (SPG) commando and defrauding people using digital payment platforms.

The accused, identified as P Sudhir, hails from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, Sudhir had been masquerading as an SPG commando for the past two months while staying in hotels across Rourkela.

During his stay, he reportedly conducted marketing activities and used the fake identity to gain the trust of individuals, only to deceive them through online transactions made via UPI. Police said he would operate in one location, commit fraud, and then relocate to avoid detection.
