Coroner called after pedestrian was hit by Amtrak train in Dauphin County

The coroner was called to the scene after a train hit a pedestrian Tuesday morning in Dauphin County.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m., although an exact time is unclear based on dispatch logs.

The Amtrak police department called Dauphin County dispatch to report a pedestrian vs. train incident in the vicinity of Harrisburg International Airport and the Wawa on Route 230 in Lower Swatara Township.

Amtrak and Norfolk Southern trains were shut down.

EMS was dispatched and arrived at the scene, but the coroner was later called. Dispatch would not give further details, and the coroner’s office did not respond to a request to confirm details at the time of publication.
