Lebanon police charged a mother and daughter with tampering with evidence after the fatal stabbing of the daughter’s boyfriend last week.

Katlynn Kearney, 32, and her mother Joanne C. Kearney, 62, both of Lebanon, were charged with tampering with a public record and conspiracy to tamper with a public record relating to the death of 45-year-old Dontay Maurice Hunter on Oct. 5.

They were not charged with causing the death because the investigation is ongoing, Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf said.

Here’s what police said happened, according to an affidavit of probable cause:

Police were sent around 9:38 a.m. Oct. 5 to the 800 block of Chestnut Street in the city for a “wellbeing check” on Hunter. His girlfriend, Katlynn Kearney, was the 911 caller.
