Argentine President Javier Milei led an event on Monday in a Buenos Aires stadium, presenting himself as a rock star, during which he launched his book "The Construction of the Miracle," just a few weeks before the crucial mid-term legislative elections.
In an event that will go down in history for its singularities, Milei dedicated a segment to renewing his demand for the freedom of the hostages held by Hamas since their attack on Israel exactly two years ago.
"We first want to pay tribute to the victims of October 7 who are still being held hostage, and we demand the prompt and unconditional recovery of all the hostages, among whom there are four Argentines," he said.
Argentina, under Milei, already has solid ties with Israel.
His posture stands in contrast to most of Latin America — where Bolivia and Colombia have severed ties with Israel and other countries have recalled their ambassadors.
During Monday's event, strong images of destruction and explosions accompanied the first song that the far-right president frantically performed, which was titled "Demoliendo hoteles" (Demolishing Hotels), an iconic song by the idol of Argentine national rock, Charly García.
Throughout the day, and as he reflected on his social media, Milei dedicated himself to rehearsing songs for the nighttime presentation which, convened for the launch of his new book, marks a milestone in the campaign ahead of the upcoming elections, at a time of extreme governmental weakness due to economic instability and scandals that corner some of his key figures.
