EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police say they were involved in a chase with a suspect who assaulted an officer.

Officers were called to a home on Ewing Avenue on Tuesday morning and were told that 23-year-old Jorden York had assaulted the homeowner.

Police say they went inside to remove York, but that he wouldn't comply and swung at an officer.

When the officer tried to tase York, they say he rushed at him and pushed him over before fleeing from the scene.

Officers chased York and eventually took him into custody.

According to the police report, one officer had an abrasion on their elbow as a result of the incident.

York was booked in the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of battery, battery against a public safety official, and resisting law enforcement.
