HARPSWELL, Maine — Two boaters were rescued Monday after the boat they were on became stuck on rocks and was taking on water.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a 30-foot disabled vessel that became stuck on rocks near Mark Island in northeastern Casco Bay , the Harpswell Marine Resources and Harbor Management said in a news release.
Determination Marine, which is a marine services company, and a lobsterman from Bailey Island were the first to arrive at the scene, where they saw that two people were still on the boat. They also were able to determine that a smaller boat would be needed to get them to safety, due to the "rocky shelf."
In what was described as a "dramatic scene," the two people aboard the ship jumped into the water so they cou
