In the season of discounts when e-commerce platforms are flooded with orders, a major platform was duped by a Haryana-based gang that changed barcode stickers. One of the accused had earlier worked for the platform and knew loopholes that could be used to dupe them.
Laxmikant Salunkhe, in-charge of Unit VIII of the Mumbai crime branch that busted the gang said that the accused would order two things – one expensive and one cheap at a Mumbai address. In this case, they ordered expensive camera lenses and a camera totally worth Rs 34 lakh and a mixer grinder worth Rs 2,500 at the same address.
They would have a person working as a delivery boy at the platform who would be asked to deliver the product.
