ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One of Georgia’s most under-the-radar special elections coming up in four weeks could have the most impact on the state’s residents.

At least, for people who use electricity, natural gas and telecommunications, which includes just about everyone.

Five people make up the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), the body responsible for regulating various utility services in Georgia. On Nov. 4, 2025, a special election will decide two of those seats:

In District 2, the candidates are incumbent Republican Tim Echols (R-incumbent) and Democratic challenger Alicia M. Johnson.

In District 3, the candidates are incumbent Republican Fitz Johnson and Democratic challenger Peter Hubbard, who defeated fellow Democrat Keisha Sean Waites earlier this year.
