DETROIT -- There will be no batting practice before Game 3 of the American League Division Series, but officials are optimistic the game will begin as scheduled at 4:08 p.m. or with only minimal delay.

The Tigers and Mariners are tied 1-1 in the best-of-five series.

Southeast Michigan enjoyed gorgeous weather while the Tigers were on a two-week road trip through Cleveland, Boston, and Seattle. But their first home game in 17 days has coincided with a cold front bringing rain and rapidly falling temperatures.

The threat of afternoon rain appears to be tapering off. If there is a delay at the start, it’s not expected to be a long one.
