SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - The Shelby County Commission approved Monday night an agreement with the City of Millington to provide 10,000 square feet of jail space to "relieve overcrowding."

The agreement between the City of Millington and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office would provide that space to help provide relief at 201 Poplar (for men) and Jail East (for women).

FOX13 has continued to report on overcrowding issues at 201 Poplar. Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. had previously said the facility has had a number of issues slowing down the intake process at the jail.
