Senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar’s death allegedly by suicide came on a day a head constable of the Haryana Police, closely associated with him, was sent to judicial custody after being arrested and allegedly confessing to demanding bribe in the name of the deceased officer. The Haryana Police, however, had not summoned or issued any notice to the IPS officer to join the investigation.

Kumar, a 2001 batch officer, was found dead at his Sector 11 residence in Chandigarh . He allegedly shot himself dead with his official weapon, Chandigarh Police said, adding a “Will” and “Final Note” was also recovered and seized from the scene along with other evidences.
