CLEVELAND, Ohio — Lauren Welch officially became a C leveland City Councilwoman Monday night after her appointment was voted on by her new colleagues.
Welch, who replaces outgoing Ward 3 Councilman Kerry McCormack , acknowledged that her tenure will be short, only lasting until Jan. 5. But she said she’s committed to listening to residents and addressing their needs.
“I know my time here is going to be brief, but brevity does not diminish purpose,” Welch said in her first remarks on the council floor.
She’ll represent the current Ward 3, which includes most of downtown, Ohio City and parts of Tremont.
